Bayberry candles have a long history rooted in early America. Colonists learned that boiling the berries of the bayberry shrub produced a small amount of fragrant, naturally green wax. Because the process was labor-intensive and the yield was low, bayberry candles were considered special—reserved for important moments and believed to bring good luck and prosperity. Over time, they became a traditional choice for the holiday season, especially on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when they were lit to welcome good fortune into the year ahead.

This boxed set includes two 8” tapers made from true bayberry wax, the rare natural wax that comes only from boiling the berries of the bayberry shrub. The scent is soft and entirely natural with no added fragrances. Because the wax comes straight from the berries, every candle has its own character.
